Q: How long does it take for my hosting to be set up?

Around 0.35 seconds! Our hosting accounts are activated in real time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We send your welcome e-mail to your address within ten seconds of the order, containing all the information you need to get started, and the hosting will appear under your account instantly (well, 0.35 seconds!).

Q: How long does it take for a new domain name to become active?

This varies, but it takes no more than 72 hours. Often, domain names are online within 24 hours, and commonly they are online within just a few hours! The exact time can vary between internet service provider, global location, and other factors.

Q: Can I just buy a domain, without the web hosting?

Yes, you can skip the hosting page during checkout, and just have a domain name. However, we also offer a basic free hosting package for domain names, "FreeHost For Domains!", so there's no reason not to enjoy the great benefits of The Hosting Folks hosting!

Q: Do you host adult or warez sites?

No, we do not host adult or warez sites, and these are against the terms & conditions of our service.

Q: How can I pay for my hosting or domains?

Our payment provider is PayPal, who allow you to use all major Credit and Debit cards, even if you're not registered with them! We accept Visa, Delta, Mastercard, Visa Electron, Visa Delta, Maestro (switch). You can also pay by Direct Debit via the use of a PayPal account, which you can register during checkout in one easy step!

Q: Do I own the domain name?

Yes - unlike some companies we always register the domain in your name or in your customer's name if you are working on someone's behalf.

Q: Can I transfer the domain at any time?

Yes, you can, and we provide a control panel so that you can make these changes yourself at any time and that's all included in the price.

Q: Do I get a certificate of ownership for the domain I purchase?

In the past Nominet issued certificates as confirmation of the contract that exists between Nominet and the registrant and this continued until August 2003. Paper certificates and reply Forms have now been replaced by an online system called Registrants Online.
