While functionally, cloud hosting is identical to traditional shared sever hosting, by spreading the hosted resources across multiple machines and physical networks, the platform is a lot more reliable as there there is a massively reduced potential for the service to fail. By configuring our services in this way, we are also able to add and remove resources as demand requires, without causing downtime. This allows your hosting to remain just as responsive during peak times or surges in demand.

A shared web hosting service is one where the customer does not have to worry about the servers or platform that the site is stored and running on. As a shared platform, we are responsible for maintaining the server operating systems and software. Your site will share resources with other sites, but as we do not over-subsribe resources and use the latest cloud technology, your website will still be fast and responsive.

VPS and Dedicated Servers give you control over the server operating system and software, and allow you to install your own software and configure the machine as you wish. This gives you full freedom over resource usage, but will also require more knowledge and configuration. The primary difference between VPS and Dedicated servers is that a VPS is a virtual machine running in the cloud, which share some infrastructure and resources with other virtual machines. A dedicated server is dedicated physical hardware, that we set up in our datacentre specifically for your exclusive use.

If you're not familiar with coding your own website, you can use our free or premium website building software, or employ the services of a web design agency to create a website for you. .

You can also install many simple-to-use content management systems to build your website, such as WordPress. You can quickly and easily install this software with just one click from our web hosting control panel.

All our shared hosting platforms require a domain name to work. You can either purchase one of our low-cost domain names, or use a domain name you already own by changing it's nameservers, or transferring it to us.

A domain name is the term for the address that your visitors will type into their web browser to visit your website. For example, our domain name is www.thehostingfolks.com. Domain names are managed by a central authority and are available to purchase for periods of 1 to 10 years, after which they must be renewed.

Yes. Your hosting control panel allows you to manage every aspect of your web hosting from a simple, familiar interface, from setting up e-mail accounts to file management, creation / deletion of MySQL databases and much, much more.

To use a domain name registered through another provider, you will need to change your nameservers to:

  • ns1.mainnameserver.com
  • ns2.mainnameserver.com

To be as transparent as possible, we show all our prices inclusive of VAT.

On our shared hosting package, you can only host one website, although can have several sub-domain sites (for example, subsite.mainsite.com). For VPS and Dedicated Servers, you can host as many websites as your server configuration will practically permit. There may be limits to the number of sites you can host within additional control panels such as cPanel or Plesk.
